The Blank Page

Share this post:

The start of a new year prompts people to make resolutions and look for ways to improve their lives. They make plans and look forward to new experiences. There is a feeling of hope and promise. The new year is a blank slate to fill with good things.

A writer looks at a blank page and often, instead of seeing the promise of a great story, sees obstacles and inadequacy. Why do we feel so intimidated by the blank page or blank screen? Why are we not exhilarated by the freshness and possibilities? Why do we not approach the blank page with the same optimism and hope we have in the new year?

This year let the writer in you win against the blank page. And if not, well there is always another blank page.

This is such a wonderful idea…look at the blank page as a freshness of possibilities. That’s a good resolution! Cheers!

It’s a more positive view to look at the blank page as a range of possibilities than a fearful thing to be conquered. We’ll see how successfully I adopt that attitude. Cheers to you too.
